Of Lieges and Lust

So, the Friday of PAX is over, and I write this blog from a hotel room overlooking Boston at night. So far, it’s been a good time, which the exception of long walks and long lines. We couldn’t get into any of the panels thus far that we originally wanted to, but damn if there wasn’t some wall-to-wall hottie action for my own viewing pleasure. Even in the lobby of the hotel we checked into, I could tell this was going to be a solid trip. Then you get to the convention (and more importantly the D&D rooms) and it really seemed like the eye-candy level spiked up quickly. I’ll fully admit to anyone who asks: I am a complete and utter geek. I love D&D and have had a great time thus far rolling dice and making innuendos at the little, round goateed faces that surround the table.

Note: If anyone else is actually at the convention, I’ll likely be in the D&D area most of the afternoon/evening… Dark Sun and DM Challenge tomorrow.

Otherwise, this comic is something of a nod to the guys who are putting on PAX – Penny-Arcade. As one of the biggest web-comics out there these days, PA definitely puts itself out there for a little good natured nudge to the ribs – even though I’m sure the guys who put it together wouldn’t give me the time of day. I’m not bitter, though (I’m sure it’s because I’m gay). But really, though – I almost wanted to put a suggestion out there that everyone who considers themselves a fan of my stuff that they need to go over to the Penny-Arcade site and shoot a link for today’s strip at the folks over there in order to bombard them with gay bears. But I am far too good a person to do that.

Remember: I AM a good person.

PS: Pictures to be uploaded at a later time!

If you’re a Manhunt Member, you might want to take a peak at the ManhuntDaily blog on Monday. I hear a certain web comic will be making an appearance. ;)

I await those pictures with bated breath. Also, as one geek to another, I am glad to see you proudly proclaiming your geekiness publicly.

I hate to say it, but kind of XKCD beat you to this. (http://xkcd.com/160/) Granted, his is all text and only build up–no actual description–but it’s still worth mentioning.

    Hey guys, just fyi

Encouraging your fans to “forum-raid” on Penny Arcade is not appreciated. Penny Arcade actively discourages its fans from “raiding” the forums or sites of other webcomics (in fact, encouraging such a thing is a ban-worthy offense on the forums!) and it’s not going to generate any sort of positive attention to your webcomic.

What’s likely to happen is any of your fans who post the link to this comic in the Penny Arcade forums are just going to get banned for “site-whoring” (which is also a ban-worthy offense!) as such actions are indistinguishable from spam-bots who sign up forum accounts just to post ads for websites.

I understand if you guys want attention for your strip, and figure ribbing the “Big Boys” at PA is fair game, but the reality is they wouldn’t do that to your site.

If you want attention, email a link to Gabe or Tycho. Encouraging your fans to cause a ruckus on their forums is not a good idea.

    Thanks.

Will you be making ComicCon in San Diego, CA later this year? If so, let us know. I live in LA and would love to travel down to meet you.

Funny, I think I very specifically said it was a thought – not a recommended action, nor meant to be an encouragement more than a light-hearted jab… But then again, I’ve been too busy most of the day through to really get online and make sure no nefarious actions were occurring!

Who the shit is this guy up top? AM I the only one who knew you were kidding?

@A Fellow!: “I almost wanted to put a suggestion out there that everyone who considers themselves a fan of my stuff that they need to go over to the Penny-Arcade site and shoot a link for today’s strip at the folks over there in order to bombard them with gay bears. But I am far too good a person to do that.” (Emphasis is mine.)

He wasn’t actually suggesting that we do that.

    o.o;

    Wow, talk about quick response.
I don’t think anyone actually linked it, had they there would probably be a bunch of comments from strangers (most likely angry flames unfortunately… evil people).

On good side he was civil about it =)
On bad side.. he was sort of too civil about it, not even a joke to make the mood change at the end. Oh welllz

    Good comic Head Artist!

Oye, looks like I’m going to have to whip out my +100 Short Sword of Ass Rapery on idiots who can’t see the humor in something.
